The recipient of a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University, Tony DiTucci draws upon more than 20 years of experience in construction management in his role as vice president of New York's DGA Builders. In addition to his professional pursuits, Tony DiTucci is a supporter of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR).
In an effort to promote healthy eating habits and weight management strategies, the AICR developed a 12-week interactive program titled the New American Plate (NAP) Challenge. The program, which is centered on AICR's 10 Recommendations for Cancer Prevention, encourages participants to make gradual changes toward creating a healthy diet and exercise routine. AICR's evidence-based recommendations such as completing 30 minutes of physical activity per day and avoiding sugary drinks have been proven to help reduce cancer risk as well as help cancer survivors.
Upon signing up for the NAP Challenge, participants receive an email every Monday that details the particular challenge as well as subsequent emails on Wednesday and the weekend to encourage them to stick to their goal and prepare for the next challenge. They also receive access to the members' only Facebook page to share insights and support with thousands of others who have already completed the challenge as well as NAP Challenge dietitians.
